LIA troubleshooting
Most LIA issues come from the LIA Bridge connection to Ableton Live. This page covers the Bridge not appearing under Control Surface, a session that shows as disconnected, commands that do nothing, and how productions recharge after a cooldown window. Each section gives the concrete check to run first.
Last updated:
Nearly every LIA issue traces back to the link between LIA and Ableton Live. LIA Bridge is the small helper app that connects LIA to Ableton Live, so start with the Bridge whenever something is not working. Each section below gives the first check to run.
Bridge not listed under Control Surface
If LIABridge does not appear in the Control Surface dropdown, confirm that the Remote Script is installed, then quit and reopen Ableton Live. Open Live → Settings → Link, Tempo & MIDI, select LIABridge in a free Control Surface slot, and leave Input and Output set to None. Reinstall the latest package if the entry is still missing. Full install steps are in Bridge on macOS and Bridge on Windows.
LIA shows the Bridge as disconnected
When LIA reports the Bridge as disconnected, work through three checks:
- Confirm Ableton Live is open.
- Confirm LIA Bridge is selected as the Control Surface under Settings, Link, Tempo & MIDI.
- Reconnect from LIA.
The session links again once the Bridge is selected and running. If it still will not connect, restart Ableton Live and try the reconnect once more.
Commands do nothing
If you send a request and nothing happens in the session, check two things. First, confirm the session is connected in LIA. Second, confirm the request names a concrete action, such as a chord progression, a bassline, or a drum pattern, rather than a vague ask. A connected session plus a specific request is what turns a message into editable MIDI on matching tracks. The Commands guide lists the kinds of requests LIA acts on.
Productions and cooldown
Each plan has a pool of productions. When the pool is used up, it recharges after the plan cooldown window, and then you can produce again. See Pricing for what each plan includes.

Frequently asked questions
Why is LIA Bridge not listed under Control Surface in Ableton Live?
Confirm that the LIABridge Remote Script is installed, then quit and reopen Ableton Live. Open Live, then Settings, then Link, Tempo and MIDI, and select LIABridge in a free Control Surface slot. Reinstall the latest package if the entry is still missing.
What do I do when LIA shows the Bridge as disconnected?
Check that Ableton Live is open and that LIA Bridge is selected as the Control Surface under Settings, then Link, Tempo and MIDI. Then reconnect from LIA. The session links again once the Bridge is selected and running.
Why do my commands do nothing?
Confirm the session is connected in LIA and that your request names a concrete action, such as a chord progression, a bassline, or a drum pattern. A connected session plus a specific request is what turns a message into an action inside Ableton Live.
What happens when my productions run out?
Each plan has a pool of productions. When the pool is used up it recharges after the plan cooldown window, and then you can produce again. If you need help beyond that, reach out from the contact page.
