How many producers use AI?

AI use is already common in creator surveys, but samples differ. LANDR found 87% of 1,241 music makers used AI somewhere in their workflow in 2025. A separate Water & Music and Moises survey found 78% of professional musicians used AI for music work, compared with 60% of hobbyists in 2026.

Mostly technical and skill-building tasks, not full songs. Among confirmed AI users in the Water & Music and Moises survey, vocal isolation led at 71%, followed by practice and skill development at 44%, backing tracks at 40%, and mixing assistance at 32%. Full song generation from a text prompt ranked last, at 24%.

Is AI replacing producers?

The evidence does not show job replacement as producers’ leading concern. In Sonarworks’ 2026 survey, 77% worried about lost originality, while 42% selected job displacement. The US occupational outlook for music directors and composers is flat from 2024 to 2034, but that forecast does not isolate AI as a cause.
